So I took a little hiatus from publishing… ok ok, little is an understatement. Was more like a 5 ish month hiatus. Had to really get my bearings, then get my bearings’ bearings you know?
Lately i’ve tried my best to refrain from this Covo-19 hype. You can find tons of other letters contributing or dare I say, feeding the flame? One thing I will give light to are the instances I’ve witnessed of folks coming together:
Witnessing a smiling young daughter and her father (tallest man i’ve ever seen who isn’t an NBA player) sharing a moment while waiting for their order at a local burger joint.
Reading an article of an artist starting a Venmo campaign to fund complete strangers in need.
Sharing a warm smile and a “stay safe & healthy!”, with folks I’ve delivered food for.
Regardless of the news highlighting panic behavior & political stress being strewn across media, there’s an underlying sense of togetherness and support to be felt in times like this.
From global relief funds to general resources, and local services helping those of us hit the hardest, there is an abundance of support and opportunities readily available.
Action steps you can take today
Providing emotional & mental support to family & friends by calling/ FaceTiming
Staying informed through credible sources, not just headliners
Sharing helpful resources
Avoid social media hype & sharing fear based headlines
Donating time (volunteering), money, and/or resources
With the endless void of confusion and fear taking place, it’s easy to lose ourselves in it all. So it’s more important than ever to ground ourselves in the “here and now” giving energy only to what we can control.
One thing we can control is our response to separateness caused by social distancing. Not to be confused with isolation, as that breeds fear and a slough of other unhealthiness. Us being social creatures, this new layer of separation can push us to discover creative ways of reinforcing our sense of unity. And even though we’re physically separate it’s more important than ever to nurture a compassionate and supportive relationships with our family, communities, and nations. We’re literally all in this together.
Back to this newsletter. The focus is less about current news, and more about a space we can visit, to read speak and reflect on topics that encourage empowerment, healing, and growth; with visuals and a song to fill the heart & mind 😉
Until next time friend.

Because social distancing is now a common practice, how does it affect those of us who still want to maintain a love life? Is dating dead?
